Declare Your Dissent: Products that Express Protest

You don’t have to wait for a protest - show your dissent every day. These products allow you to show your dissent without saying a word, and at the same time support independent artisans, and/or organizations that use proceeds to leverage their scaled expertise and resources to fight the good fight.

Staying hydrated is important in resistance! Enjoy your favorite beverage – coffee, tea, wine, mojito…or water if you must – in a handmade ceramic mug that lets everyone know where you stand. Check out “be the change,” “I VOTE,” or “RESIST” mugs, or decorate your water bottle with durable stickers. Stella Pottery is handmade, small-batch, eco-conscious stoneware pottery, and is microwave and dishwasher safe, with comfortable handles and durable, tested glazes.

And you’ll need something to wear… something that doesn’t pull any punches. Melissa Ivanco-Murray is an illustrator and Army veteran. Her work reflects her support of military women, advocating “a woman’s place is in the Army” (and other services), and pushing back against recent harm to women in the military with “go to hell, Hegseth.” Don’t miss this one: a woman’s place is in the resistance !

Add meaningful decoration to your clothing: Carrie Gold is an artist who loves language. Her pins, “All Are Welcome Here,” come in English and Spanish.

And what says “dissent” more than tie-dye? Katie, a small-batch, hand-dyed fiber artist, applies tie-dye to a variety of clothing, including t-shirts, baby onesies, handkerchiefs, etc.

Karen Hallion is an illustrator who often pairs a well-known person’s portrait with an empowering word that embodies that person. Her DISSENT” t-shirt features Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and her America has no king” t-shirt features Lady Liberty. Shop all of her t-shirts, stickers, prints, postcards, books, and even cross stitch patterns at her LinkTree.

Display your thoughts in your home or your workplace: Rachel Eck is a graphic design “letterer” who creates word art from sayings, quotes, and documents. Some of her recent work includes the federal oath, the first amendment, and other human-centered and empathy-related designs. Find her work across several platforms at her LinkTree.

Somehow, in 2025, PRIDE is still protest. Miss Thera at Atypically Artistic hand-makes earrings in a variety of styles – crocheted rainbows, little rainbow potion bottles, sparkly swirly pastel rainbows, and embroidered rainbow flowers.

The ACLU supports our democracy by challenging anti-Constitutional laws, policies, and practices, through providing legal representation, making Freedom of Information Act requests, and by educating and advocating for everyone’s civil rights and civil liberties. They sell pocket constitutions that you can just casually leave out on your coffee table as a conversation starter, and tees, pins, hats, totes – with messages ranging from “dissent is patriotic” to “immigrants make our communities stronger.”

The National Women’s Law Center fights for gender justice by authoring legislation, advocating, covering legal expenses, and connecting people to legal assistance across topics relevant to gender equity, such as sexual harassment/discrimination, abortion rights, equal pay and workplace protections, etc. 100% of proceeds to their supporter shop supports their work toward gender justice. Their “I took an oath” t-shirt is union printed.

The Bitter Southerner is an independent media company “working to make the South, and America, a better place.” Their magazine publishes stories that focus on southern culture – food, people, politics, agriculture, etc.; and their General Store offers culturally-loaded themes on products such as flags, t-shirts, hats, and even music.

Human Rights Campaign works for full equality for every person. They advocate for pro-equality candidates, educate with an eye to increasing understanding, support, and inclusion, and advance LGBTQ+ inclusive policies.

House of Metalworks’ goal is to tell a story, carry a vibe, and reflect beauty and functionality. Focused on craftsmanship and sustainability, their products range among  stackable rings and bracelets, corded bracelets, pendants, and earrings.

Hamster Bard is a team of graphic designers who champion self expression, individuality, inclusion, and spreading joy. I especially like their art nouveau “resist” design, which comes on t-shirts and as a pin, as well as posters, journal, sticker, etc.

Sign up for Penzey’s email list – they regularly offer significant discounts on themed herbs and spices, spice blends (including TACO blends), and gift cards. They even have a new “RESIST” t-shirt.

If you know of any other artisans or organizations that sell protest gear or political dissent products, please let me know!!!
